The book manager page in Illumitas is the main page for handling a book. From this page, you can add or delete text, illustrations or advertisements. If you wish to divide your book into chapters you can manage those here too. If you wish to change information about your book, such as the title or byline you can select to do that from here as well. Finally, when you are ready to download all of the file necessary to publish your book to the web, this page will be were you click on the link to initiate the download.
The top box on this page contains basic information about your book including the title, byline, the date you created it, the author contact email address, and, if you uploaded one, the cover illustration.
The second box down contains the synopsis of your book. This will appear on the "About" page for your site. A link to the about page will be at the bottom of every page.
This menu invovles things you can do to you book:
Download HTML Files - When your book is ready to be published to the web, you click on this link. You will be prompted to download a file called "Pages.zip". This zip file contains all of the files necessary to publish you literary work to the web. Just unzip the file and upload the contents to your website.
Update Book Information - When you click on this link, you will be brought to the update book screen where you can change your book's title, byline, author contact email address, or cover illustration.
Delete Book From Illumitas - Clicking on this link will completely erase your book and return you to the Illumitas home page. This will not affect any websites where you have already published your literary work. It only removes data pertaining to your book from the Illumitas database.
This menu invovles things you can do to the content of you book:
Add A Chapter - When you click on this link you will be brought to a page that allows you to enter the next chapter. If you have just created this book, it will be chapter 1. If you have more than one chapter, a list of them will appear below this menu box in a section labeled "Chapters". If you have only one chapter, the section below is labeled "Content" instead.
Add/Remove Illustrations - Clicking on this link will take you to the illustration management page for your book.
Manage Advertisements - Clicking on this link will take you to the advertisement management page for your book.
This section will appear differently based on what text content you have entered for your book.
This form is where you paste in your book's text content. If you plan on dividing you book into chapters, then you would just enter the first chapter here. You will be able to add the other chapters later, one at a time. Otherwise, you can just paste the whole thing.
Content - Paste your content into this box
Chapter Title - If you plan on dividing your book into chapters, and you wish to give your chapters titles (rather than just somehting like "Chapter 1"), enter the title of chapter 1 here. Otherwise, you can leave this blank.
Chapter Illustration File - If you are using chapters and would like, you can upload a jpg to act as an illustration for this chapter (it must be smaller than 2 megabytes). Just click on the browse button to find the jpg file on your hard drive. This image will appear on the page where the chapter begins below the chapter title.
Submit - Click on this button when you are done entering the content and are ready to add it to the book.
In this case, you will have a section labled "Content". There will be two options:
Update Content - Clicking on this link will bring you to the content editor where you can change your text content.
Delete Content - Clicking on this link will delete your book's content.
In this case, you will have a section labled "Chapters".
Update Content - Clicking on this link will bring you to the content editor where you can change your text content of the chapter.
Delete Last Chapter - Clicking on this link will delete your book's last chapter. You can click on this multiple times to delete more than one chapter (though it must always be the last chapter in the list).
