elbowed me. He pointed towards the tower and
whispered, “look, over there.”
I looked and saw a bedraggled figure tied to
it. I barely recognized Princess Starshine.
Her hair was greasy and disarrayed, covering her
face. Her clothes were in shambles and her body
covered in bruises. She appeared to be the only
of her party left alive.
The rest of the clearing was mostly empty. The
building of the oil facility had long ago fallen
into rusted piles. The tower was the only
intact structure. There was also a pile of
rusting cars and trucks on the opposite side of
the clearing at the base of some hills.
Franklin elbowed me again. I looked at him and
he motioned in the direction from which we had
come. I followed the others back to our bikes.
There Wolf outlined the attack plan. I was to
go with Franklin and three others back to the
edge of the clearing and wait while the others
broke into two groups and positioned themselves
for the attack on other sides of the clearing.
