A book in Illumitas is an organizational structure that allows you to associate the title, text, illustrations, advertisements, etc. of your literary work. To begin creating a book, be sure you are logged in, then click on the button labeled “Click Here To Create A New Book”.

Your first step is to give your work a name. Just fill in the box labeled "Title". This is the title that will appear on the cover of the novel. Technically this can be up to 48 characters long, but it looks best if you title is under 31 characters. Anything longer tends to run off the edge of the cover.
Put your name or pen name in the box labeled "Byline". This will also appear on the title page as the author of the book. Don’t include the word “by”, it is automatically added. Also this name will appear at the bottom of each page in the contact link (e.g. “Contact Charles Dickens”) and in the copyright notice.
In the "Author Contact Email" box, put an email address where your fans can send you email. A link to send mail to this address will appear at the bottom of each page.
In the "Synopsis" box, you can enter a quick teaser for your novel. This will appear on the "About" page for your site. A link to the about page will be at the bottom of every page.
Also, if you would like, you can upload a jpg to act as a sort of cover illustration (it must be smaller than 2 megabytes). Just click on the browse button to find the jpg file on your hard drive. This image will appear on the cover of your book above the title.
Once you are done, click on the button labeled “Create”. This will create you novel in our database and advance you to the next screen in the process.
On the next screen you will be able to start entering content, illustrations, and advertisements for your novel. Also, anything that you entered on this screen can later be changed if you so wish.
